BAYANPROD

A multi-awarded independent production company, Bayan Productions has almost 20 years of expertise within the television industry.

Through its groundbreaking and phenomenal “Magandang Gabi, Bayan” Bayan Productions has effectively reinvented public affairs programming for the 1980's and beyond. For more than a decade, MGB remained the undisputed leader in public affairs programming and lorded it over on primetime television, beating all its timeslot competitors whether entertainment, drama or special events show.   MGB was the first and only public affairs program in the history of Philippine television to make it to the number one (1) slot in the industry's over-all program ranking.

Each week since its inception in 1988, and up until January this year, Bayan’s MGB, which aired simulcast nationwide over ABS-CBN’s Channel 2 and radio station DZMM, provided viewers with riveting, thought-provoking and valuable presentations they wouldn't get anywhere else  - from crimes, corruption and scandals and their impact on the country and people to uplifting features on human courage and heroism as well as national aspiration and survival.
Indeed, it cannot be gainsaid that Bayan Productions, through its unique collaboration with ABS-CBN, launched the meteoric career of NOLI DE CASTRO (now Vice President no less of the Republic) as the country's most trusted and widely watched broadcast journalist. His credible exposés paved the way for inquiries and investigations and made responsible people or groups accountable for their actions.

At the helm of Bayan Productions and inarguably behind its established track record on high-end production and quality programming is ARLENE DE CASTRO, who is also ABS-CBN’s former Vice President for Current Affairs.

In nearly 20 years as a television executive, Ms. de Castro has been responsible for launching and sustaining a number of award-winning television programs and alongside, the news and public affairs anchoring of  Teddy Locsin Jr., Ted Failon, Boy Abunda, Kris Aquino, Henry Omaga Diaz, Cherie Mercado, Cito Beltran, Pia Guanio, the late Senator Rene Cayetano, Kiko Pangilinan, Mari Kaimo, the late Ka Ernie Baron, Erwin Tulfo, Julius Babao, Ces Drilon, Connie Sison, Bobby Yan, Cathy Yang, Tony Velasquez, Karen Davila, Gus Abelgas, Aljo Bendijo, Katkat de Castro, Daphne Osena, Angel Aquino, Miguel Zubiri, Franzen Fajardo, JV Villar, Marc Logan, among others.

In the process, she has won for ABS-CBN and Bayan Productions every major award in news and public affairs broadcasting, including the Catholic Mass Media Award, KBP Golden Dove Award, Asian TV Award, Gawad CCP, Manila Rotary Club Award, to mention a few.
And Bayan Productions is not about to rest on its laurels. With its latest winner, TRIP NA TRIP, a one-of-a-kind travel show focusing on popular and unexplored destinations, Bayan Productions has again exhibited its uncanny ability to produce and sustain television programs that  perform well beyond expectations in terms of ratings and revenue generation.
Without doubt, Trip na Trip’s success  has inspired Bayan Productions to come up with more winners.  Its new  programs,  Kabuhayang Swak na Swak, The Urban Zone, television specials like Pinoy Movies,  and others still in the pipeline, are all guaranteed to prove that  Bayan Productions will continue to provide the viewing public here and abroad   with quality programs that are not only entertaining but also informative and enlightening.

Ably assisted by her veteran and highly-competent and tested production team, Ms. de Castro, the lady VP herself,  has vowed to continue to create and deliver quality content  and explore new ideas on programming that would reflect the value that Bayan places on human dignity and lifelong learning.

“For nearly two decades, our forte  has been mainly investigative - serious, explosive and hard-hitting stuff. But after almost twenty years in this craft, we thought it’s time to re-invent  ourselves, again,  and seek yet another  higher ground and this time, we’d like to  focus on the more positive, uplifting and developmental side of things. It is aptly captured in our  new mantra, PINOY PRIDE, PINOY HOPE and PINOY DREAM. Our three  programs…TRIP NA TRIP , KABUHAYANG SWAK NA SWAK and THE URBAN ZONE are all committed to achieving that, “ Ms. De Castro stressed.
